BIBLE
READING YOUR
Central to your journey is your connection with the Bible, which is a personal letter from God to you
a daily devotional method
We recommend using the S.O.A.P. personal daily devotional method, which stands for:
SCRIPTURE
Read one passage (header to header) of scripture or one chapter but no more.
Retell it in your own words
OBSERVATION
Write down what sticks out to you or what you believe God might be showing you or what confuses you, things you have a question too or want to explore. With what you observe, read up on definitions of words and other scriptures pertaining to the
observations:
• What do you observe about God?
• What do you observe about you and others?
• How do prayer and mission go together in this passage?
APPLICATION
With what you observed, ask God to show you the action steps to that. Forgiveness, repentance, serving, change of thought, etc. Whatever you believe God is saying as you listen to Him through those observations.
How can you specifically live out and apply this passage?
PERSON
As you discover what God is asking you to specifically live out from the passage, you then need to ask God for a person to share your discovery with.
Who is one person you can share this passage with?
END YOUR READING WITH PRAYER
